Shanghai

Shanghai is a continuation of my series, Biennials (Axis of Evil), about cities that host biennials. I first did a small painting called Shanghai for an auction at the New York Aikikai. I decided to expand it into a triptych to kick start 2014. As the piece developed I realized the center panel wanted nothing to do with the others, so I broke it out into one piece Shanghai, and Shanghai 2 (now a diptych). I love the creative process!

I’ve just finished the second panel of the Shanghai 2 diptych. The pictures below track the progress of the second panel.
